 SINGERS

  Should the Newark Männerchor host a Sängerfest in 2011?

Every three years one of the sixteen choruses of the Central Ohio Singers District (Zentral Ohio Sängerbezirk) hosts a weekend songfest (Sängerfest), and all of the Central Ohio choruses participate.  The last time Newark hosted a Sängerfest was in 1996.  Now, we have an opportunity to host one in 2011.  Should we?  It’s up to you, the voting member.  The motion will be presented at the next business meeting, February 11, 2009.  A Sängerfest weekend is loads of fun as 300 singers and guests gather to sing, eat, drink, dance and renew friendships.  The event can even provide some income for the host society.  Granted, it involves a number of meetings and a lot of work, but every host society is happy for having done it.  So, come to the February 11 meeting, ask questions, learn what is involved and make your vote count!  John Kneller, Music Committee Chairman knellerjd@att.net or 614-898-9022

ENTERTAINMENT

Congratulations to the Entertainment Committee for yet another successful dinner dance!  We look forward to even more classy & entertaining events in 2009!  The next huge event is the New Years Eve Dinner Dance (December 31).  Don’t miss it!

MEMBERSHIP

2009 Dues are now due!  Dues are as follows:  Persons 65 of age & older AND who have been a member for 10 consecutive years in any one or any combination of the Maennerchor, Damenchor, or Ladies Section - $25.00; all others are $40.00.  Life Members are exempt from club dues.

BEREAVEMENT

Our condolences to the family of Maennerchor member, Raymond Womeldorph, whom we lost in December.
